Installation Tips - Atlas 3560 CU FT Covered Hopper
Here's the starting point for the car. Nothing is unusual here.
The truck screw on this car has a very thin slot for a screwdriver blade. I had to
find a jewelers screwdriver to remove it.
Once the truck and coupler is removed, the bottom of the coupler box is a little
bit of a surprise with all its ribs. Since the bottom of the box isn't flat, we'll
have to use the same friction spring installation method that was used with the P2K
Type 21 Tank car.
As with the P2K Type 21 Tank car, put the coupler in place first. Then use a hobby
knife to guide the spring into place.
Finishing up is easy. Just screw the coupler lid and trucks back on. Here's the
finished product.
